Richards & Rucker Family Dental offers dental exams and teeth cleaning for patients in American Fork and throughout Utah County. Our extensive dental cleaning, also known as an oral prophylaxis, is the removal of dental biofilm (plaque) and calculus (tartar) from the teeth. We use specialized instruments to gently, but very effectively remove these deposits without harming your tooth. An ultrasonic device that emits vibrations and is cooled by water may be used, as well as hand instruments to remove all deposit on the tooth and root surfaces. Once all the tooth surfaces have been cleaned of plaque and tartar, your teeth are beautifully polished.

1: X-rays & Dental Exam
Before we begin and dental exam, we take X-rays of your entire mouth so we can carefully check for signs of tooth decay, gum disease and any other hidden issues so you'll have a healthy smile. This exam includes performing an oral cancer screening as well.

2: Remove Plaque & Tartar
We then do a thorough cleaning of your teeth, removing any plaque and tartar (hardened plaque) from your teeth. This hard buildup can form in areas where it was missed during your normal brushing and flossing routine.
